This composter was the only one available in the large 900L size at the time. Given that it was slightly cheaper than the others on backorder i didn't mind.
When putting it together you definitely need to view the online instructions video as it isn't easy to put together as they claim. I put the clips on as per the white paper instructions as per the video. 3 clips broke before I gave up and was really frustrated.
The next day I was about to complain to Maze and send them the video of the joints not really matching up with some poor manufacturing. But then I thought I'll watch the video again to see how the guy on it installs the clips. He installed them upside down compared to the white paper instructions shown.
When doing this, it was still a struggle to get the clips on but they didn't break except for 1 clip where the joints just wouldn't line up and work. I battled on and eventually got the composter together. The handle at the top is a bit too loose for my liking, and the lid doesn't really fit super well. But the proof is in how well it works.
3 days after 3/4 filling the compost bin with green cut and mown weeds, plus old brown leaves, layer upon layer as layer everyone tells you, it worked! I had 140 degrees fahrenheit (60 degrees C) on my compost thermometer. And at the start of spring so that's pretty damn good. I have to use a corkscrew to aerate the bin and its a little awkward even at my height of 6 ft 2, but doable.
Moral of the story is, wear gloves when putting the clips on as its tough. And be firm but don't overdo it. Have two people putting it together, one to hold the joints together and other to clip. Make sure you clip as per the guy on the video with handles facing DOWN not up like the white paper instructions. And Maze were good enough to replace the 4 broken clips free of charge.
So not great to put together, but it works.
